Overview
It belongs to the broad-spectrum class of macrolide antibiotic. It has long shelf-life and has high tissue penetration. It is highly stable at low pH. It also has immunomodulatory affect. It is used for sexually transmitted diseases and enteric infections.

Mechanism of action
Azithromycin inhibits the protein synthesis process by inhibiting translation step by binding with the 50s ribosomal subunit.

Absorption- It is absorbed in the intestine
Protein Binding- It shows less protein Binding
Metabolism- It does not show metabolism and eliminated by liver
Excretion- It is excreted unchanged via urine

Contraindication
- Contraindicated in myasthenia gravis
- Contraindicated in heart rhythm
